Millet flakes are a wheat and gluten free alternative for making your own morning muesli or porridge. The flakes are 100% wholegrain and nothing whatsoever is added.
A great fibre provider, millet helps to protect against a variety of cancers, and gallstone formation. It also contains high levels of magnesium which will not only protect your heart but is brilliant at helping to stabilise blood sugar levels.Just combine with your choice of other grains and muesli ingredients. The flakes have a similar aroma to rice flakes and are a good alternative to rice or oats.
Use twice the volume of water to grain and simmer for 30 to 40 minutes or until tender.
To make a warming porridge, use 50g flakes to 350ml of milk or water. Combine the flakes and liquid in a pan and bring to the boil, reduce heat and simmer gently for 4 - 5 minutes. Stir continually, adding more liquid as necessary to ensure a creamy consistency. Serve with your favourite topping.
Keep in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight. Once opened, store in an airtight container.
